Philmont Training Hike/Gear check on June 2nd, 2013
Sunday, June 2nd, 2013 at 7am - 5pm
Location:Rattlesnake Lake via Iron Horse Trail to Twin Falls
This event is in the past.
UPDATE: Due to snow conditions at Lake Valhalla, we will instead hike the Iron Horse trail from Rattle Snake Lake to Twin Falls.
The purpose of this hike will be to have the crews work together to organize their gear, hike as a crew and then set up camp and cook a meal as if they were staying overnight. We will do this as a day trip – but we will pitch tents, cook lunch and then pack up and head back. Being familiar with the required gear and checking the status of our stoves, water filters, etc is a critical part of our preparation and Philmont training. This will also be a chance for the new Crew Leaders to assume their leadership position and coordinate the work of their crew.
Please RSVP on the Troop Website. We will leave Redmond about 7:30 AM, be hiking by 9:00 and return Sunday evening. It will be a busy and long training day but critical to our preparations.
ASM, Troop 550.
